Welcome to the Caviar and Dreams website, the answer to your wedding stresses, from sourcing the best options for everything you need to making you look and feel beautiful on the one day you've dreamt of for most of your life.

Background

As a trained beauty therapist I tried fiercely to establish a successful beauty salon on the East Rand I had the experience of being an informal psychologist to my clients, laughing with them, crying with them, fighting for them when they needed a hand. At one stage I had about 400 clients on my books. After planning my own wedding, I started researching into a great concept of combining my beauty salon skills with planning a wedding. So after 2 years of research I registered Caviar and Dreams, hoping my dream of being a well known business woman that all brides and grooms I encountered would feel that I have made their special day stressfree and that much more enjoyable.

My first wedding was for a lovely couple from Ghana with a guest list of 200 people. What a challenge! But what a reward! To see the reception come to life when you step back to look at what you've created. It's nothing to think of what work I've put in when building a reputation, but it's everything when you need to get down and dirty, changing roles constantly, from co-ordinator, hair stylist, make-up artist to waitress. When your job is all about making the bride and groom happy about the events of their wedding day, you need to make sure you have thought of every possible thing that could go wrong and prepare for it."

My Dream

Like most South Africans, I too have a dream. It may consist of may dreams but essentially it is the big one that I'm fighting for. I want to be the solution for a bridal couple when it comes to planning their wedding. The one to paint a picture of what their venue will look like out of nothing. My ultimate goal is to one day be able to offer everything under one roof - venue, chapel, salon, décor, wedding stationery, wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, gents suits, photographers, flowers, cakes and catering.

Am I a miracle worker? Jane of all trades? I can't help it, I want to do it all. Beauty, hair, flowers, décor, stationery, cakes, catering...but unfortunately I can't do it all...yet, as much as I'd love to, but in order for a wedding to be successful, there are many hands that need to put it all together.

You might ask yourself...

"How hard can it be to plan my own wedding?"

Well, not hard if you have the time to look around and have the right contacts. The best price isn't always the best option, trust me, I learnt the hard way with a dressmaker I used. And the first wedding gown you try on is always "the one" but if you carry on looking, you'll truly fall in love with "the right one". If you are a working woman, working a 5 day week, maybe with kids, you'll know it's impossible to split yourself up. That is where I come in.

"But, aren't wedding planners expensive?"

If you think of the thought, sourcing, the phone calls, the money saving and the travelling that goes into bringing all the integral parts to your day together, you'll see that to have a professional doing the job is worth every penny. In these days, no one can really offer a service for nothing, I mean I do this for the love of it, it's in my blood, but I also have a dream that all these "projects" are progressively pushing me towards fulfilling.

Your Dream...

Knowing that planning your own wedding can be highly stressful and costly a wedding planner is often considered but usually left at a mere thought, because the bridal couple expect a high bill for taking all the stresses away. It's not always the case. Some wedding planners can charge hefty amounts and are often either well-known planners or just feel the need to charge high fees so the couple will think they must be getting the best of the best. I'm not saying that the cheapest option is always the best, but if you were considering using a wedding planner (let's assume it's a woman), take note of a few things...

1. Does the planner have professionalism in appearance, attitude and the way she conducts the first meeting? Personal appearance is the first impression so if she is dressed neatly with her make-up done, hair neat it means she takes pride in what she does. You don't want a untidy person doing your wedding, because if she doesn't have time to fix herself, then she's not good with time management.
